Meet Mrs. Manack
Hello! My name is Susan Manack. I have been an elementary school counselor for twenty-one years, and the past fifteen years have been at Sallie Z. (Incidentally...I was also a student at the old Sallie Z as a child!) I grew up in Statesboro, and graduated from Statesboro High School in 1981. I attended Mercer University in Macon, Ga. and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I attended graduate school at GSU, where I earned a Masters degree in School Psychology and Counseling, and an Education Specialist degree in School Counseling. I am certified for grades Pre-K through 12, but my heart is with elementary school children. It is truly an honor and a privilege to have a job that allows me to influence the hearts and minds of children. I take this responsibility very seriously, and my hope is that I can help each child see his/her unique ability to contribute value to the world. I want them to know that they are loved, and that the main keys to having a successful life are to practice good character, have a strong work ethic, and to know that they themselves have the power to be all that they were created to be.
I am married to Max Manack, and we have two children. My son, John, graduated from the University of Georgia in the Spring of 2013. My daughter, Madeline, is also a UGA Bulldog and is in her sophomore year. My dog, Penny Lane, is a yorkie-poo (poodle & yorkshire terrier mix) and keeps me very active in the afternoons which is when she demands to be taken on her walks! My hobbies are reading, exercise, movies, cooking, and writing. I love the beach, coffee, and spending time with my family. My favorite quote: "We cannot change the wind, but we can adjust our sails" (Anonymous).
If you are the parent of a Sallie Z. student, please feel free to call or stop by the school and meet me in person. Getting to know you is part of my job!
